Step Friendly Shopping Cart for the Twelve Loaves Food Pantry

The Twelve Loaves Food Pantry is a local food bank that serves over 10,000 lbs of food to over 8,000 people every year. It is operated out of Calvary Community Church and run by volunteers. Currently, the entrance of the food pantry has a 7 inch step at it's entrance, so volunteers struggle to carry heavy loads down that step. While a ramp would be ideal, it was too costly to build an ADA compliant ramp, and to complicated to get the proper permits. So our task, was to design a shopping cart that could traverse that step with minimal effort while holding the target load of 300 lbs.
