Disaster shelter survival challenge to take place during Imagine RIT

Exhibit: Newdigs Disaster Shelter Challenge

Description: Teams of students must design and build a disaster shelter that could be shipped to areas that are in need of shelters due to disaster (for example, the recent earthquake in Haiti). As part of this challenge, at least two team members will take up residence inside of the shelter from 5 p.m. April 29 until the close of the Imagine RIT festival at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 1. During the festival, a table will be set up with a donation box (for the Haiti relief fund) for each team’s shelter along with a picture and description. Visitors will be able to vote for their favorite/most viable shelter by donating money. Whichever team receives the most donations will win the competition.
