At RIT, we understand that each student brings unique experiences and perspectives. That's why we've designed specialized welcome experiences to ensure every student feels welcomed and supported from day one. Explore our unique programs and onboarding experiences tailored to meet the needs of diverse student populations.
Transfer Students
Transition smoothly into your new academic environment with our two Transfer Student Orientation programs:
- Transfer Program #1 is designed for traditional transfer students who have completed at least one year of prior college experience.
- Transfer Program #2 is built for students transferring to RIT without a prior degree and/or less than a year of prior college experience.
Transfer students must select their program option by Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students
First-year and transfer deaf and hard-of-hearing students who are accepted into bachelor’s degree programs in one of the other eight colleges of RIT, as well as first-year and transfer students accepted into the American Sign Language-English interpretation program and community development and inclusive leadership program, will attend New Student Orientation.
First-year and transfer deaf and hard-of-hearing students who are entering into an associate degree program, associate+bachelor's degree program, pre-baccalaureate program, or in career exploration studies in the College of NTID will attend the Summer Vestibule Program (SVP) Orientation.
