Important Dates

As you prepare to embark on this exciting journey, we understand that transitioning to college life can be both thrilling and overwhelming. To help you navigate this transition smoothly, we've compiled a high-level timeline outlining what you can expect throughout the summer leading up to the start of your college experience.

Accepted student open house events give you an in-depth look at your major and help you become familiar with our community and life at RIT. Registration for open houses is required.

RIT Tigers are shaping the future through ideas that inspire, inform, and improve lives. Join us for the Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival, a showcase that displays the ingenuity of students, faculty, and staff through hands-on exhibits, multimedia presentations, demonstrations, research projects, performing arts, and more.

A successful transition to RIT requires your active participation. Please activate your RIT email and begin checking your inbox in early May. We will be sending you and your family important information that will assist you in successfully launching your RIT journey.

RIT’s six Special Interest Houses unite students with common interests, offering a unique academic and social experience.

You must complete your RIT Housing contract and roommate information by this date in order to self-select a Residence Hall and room during room selection. Students who complete a contract after May 26, 2024, or do not self-select during room selection will be assigned a room and roommate by the RIT Housing staff.

If you completed your RIT Housing contract by May 26, you will receive an email containing the date and time of your room selection appointment. This email will be sent to your RIT email address.

RIT Housing must receive accommodation approvals from the Disability Services Office by June 10, 2024 for students to participate in the Room Selection process.

The Fall 2024 billing statement will be generated the first week of July and will be due Aug. 15, 2024. You will be alerted via your RIT email when it is available for you to view in e-Services.

Students living in RIT Housing will receive an email in July prompting you to select your preferred Move-In and Welcome Day. Your options are Sunday, Aug. 18, or Monday, Aug. 19.

Your primary academic advisor will use the information you provide through the completion of your college survey, your submission of final high school transcripts and AP/college credits, etc. to build your Fall semester course schedule. Your schedule will be designed to fulfill general education and academic program requirements. In early August, you will be able to view your schedule through the RIT Student Information System (SIS)

You may purchase course materials from our RIT partner, Akademos. Using your RIT email and credentials, you can find all required and optional course materials, and have the items shipped directly to campus.

View your bill and make a payment or sign up for a payment plan via e-Services.

We look forward to welcoming you to campus on Welcome Days!

If you are living in RIT Housing, you will move-in and begin your Orientation experience on the Move-in and Welcome Day you selected. If you plan to commute to campus, you have the option to check-in for Orientation on either Welcome Day. It is important that all new students check-in for Orientation during Welcome Days.

Activities to welcome parents and families to the RIT community will take place during Welcome Days. Information about Family Orientation programming will be shared with your family via email throughout the summer.

Your formal in-person Orientation experience will begin on Tuesday and continue through Sunday. Detailed information about what to expect at Orientation will be sent to you via email throughout the summer.
