Fall 2020 International Student Orientation

Greetings from the ISS Staff!

We hope you have arrived (or will soon arrive) at RIT!

There are 2 steps for you to check-in with our office. We can then register your SEVIS record and provide you with an updated I-20/DS-2019 with a travel signature:

  1. Please conduct your mandatory, virtual “Immigration Check-In” by clicking here.
Use your RIT user name and password to log in to Campus Groups to submit the check-in form and scans of your immigration documents. Please have scans of your I-20 (F-1 students) /DS-2019 (J-1 students), visa stamp, passport and I-94 which you can download here.
**PLEASE NOTE – Your I-94 may take up to a week to generate after your arrival to the US**
**All initial status international students must perform their virtual check in as soon as possible upon admission into the United States.**
  2. Then, it’s time for International Student Orientation, which is also virtual this year, and interactive—check your knowledge along the way! Please click here to start this mandatory orientation session. It is best viewed on a laptop/desktop, or on your phone in landscape mode.

Our PALs have compiled a comprehensive list of resources and webinars to assist on your RIT journey! The resource drive can be found here. You should have access through your RIT email, but if not, please just “request access” and a PAL will grant it right away.

If you wish to speak with an ISS advisor, you may do so in one of the following ways:

  • Open Zoom sessions, every weekday 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm (no appointment needed)
  • By email: monitored Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm (Please allow us adequate time to respond.)
  • By phone (585) 475-6943 – (if no answer, please leave us a voicemail.) With limited staff in the office, we are asking you to first try Zoom or email. Thanks!
  • For after-hours and weekend emergencies, please call Public Safety at (585) 475-3333

Welcome to RIT!
