Tiger Heritage Spotlight: Jesus Ruiz BS ‘97

A first-generation college student, Jesus Ruiz BS ‘97 was attracted to RIT because of the focus on conceptual learning and the emphasis that RIT places on hands-on experiences in real work environments. Due to the lack of diversity and inclusion that he experienced during his first quarter on campus, Jesus sprung into action and brought the Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity to RIT. By doing so, Jesus helped build a family environment where Latino students like him could support each other personally and academically.

Ribbon cutting celebrates K-12 University Center’s move to downtown Rochester

Earlier this month, RIT President David Munson, K-12 University Center Executive Director Donna Burnette, and Rochester Mayor Malik Evans cut the ribbon in front of the K-12 University Center’s new home at 40 Franklin St., in the heart of downtown Rochester. This move from RIT’s Henrietta campus to the city will allow the center to greatly expand the connections it has already forged with the Rochester community.

166o Vine, a movie musical film screening

Join us in Wegmans Theatre on Monday, October 2 for a screening of 166o Vine, A New Movie Musical. An original musical, that looks into the journey of life as a social media influencer: creating, curating and continuing an artificial online identity that pleases sponsors, brands and tens of millions of followers, all the while aware of the widening space between one's true self and one's online self. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required.

Immediately following the screening, stay for a Q&A with RIT alumni and 166o Vine Producer, Kevin Surace BT '85.
