Amanda Jackson-Jacobs EMBA ‘09

Amanda Jackson-Jacobs EMBA '090

The RIT Alumni Association Board’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee met this spring to set goals for 2023-24: to increase the visibility of the board across campus and regionally, as well as to market specific DEI activities to the board, alumni, and other constituents. The committee also looks forward to actively engaging with university administration to ensure that their goals align closely with those of RIT, and to discuss ways to increase engagement with alumni affinity groups.

Amanda Jackson-Jacobs EMBA ‘09 serves as the chair of the DEI committee, and has deep respect and great enthusiasm for the work they’re embarking on. “My goal is to wholeheartedly embody not only the essence of our alumni, but to authentically reflect our core values in alignment with RIT’s overarching mission. Our commitment to this endeavor is driven by its intrinsic importance, extending beyond the boundaries of RIT and Rochester to impact the global community.

"Our committee is built on the strong pillars of engagement, data integrity, marketing and communications, and philanthropy. I’m excited to step into the role of drum major for this vital initiative, and I bring my authentic self to this endeavor. This opportunity not only allows me to embrace and celebrate my culture and spirituality but also underscores our alumni association's collective commitment to weaving a vibrant, diverse tapestry that reflects the rich mosaic of the RIT community.”

Wallace Library Interior

Well, hello, Wallace Library, have we met?

First came COVID-19, then came a massive construction project, and now after more than three-and-half years, RIT’s university library reopens with a new look and a new neighbor. Wallace Library adjoins the Student Hall for Exploration and Development (SHED)—the new maker space, performing arts, and classroom facility. The SHED design redefined the library, condensing its footprint while increasing its visibility to students and opportunities to engage with the campus community.
