One of the most important pillars of RIT Croatia’s success is surely the mandatory experiential learning through cooperative education (co-op) that all students need to undertake in order to qualify for a degree in the chosen field. Depending on the chosen program, required co-op hours range from minimum 400 to 800 working hours and co-ops are usually done in summer months when students are out of regular classes.

It is no different this summer as well; students are diligently partaking in work experience that makes a difference, under the careful monitoring of our Career Services Department. Career Services Department makes sure students are properly registering where they are working, what positions they are obtaining and how that is relevant to the chosen field of study.

Majority of students work in traditional model by having a full time job position and working on site, whereas some work remotely or project based.

“Career Services work hard to make sure students fulfill all co-op requirements, and at the same time, we carefully monitor current trends and statistics in order to better understand their needs. This summer, we are proud to say that our students work in over 260 different companies across 16 countries: Albania, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, USA, Canada, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Iraq, Malta, Montenegro, New Zealand, Serbia and South Africa!” says Petra Vodopija Borković, Career Services, Alumni Relations, Study Abroad & International Students Department Manager.

Considering that our undergraduate programs range from Global Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, New Media Design to Web and Mobile Computing, it is understandable that our students opt for co-ops in various industries such as: Advertising, Cryptocurrencies, Construction, Design, Finance & Banking, Hospitality & Tourism, Marketing, IT, Real Estate, Travel, Wholesale, and more.

“Besides working in a wide range of industries, our students hone their skills in variety of subareas of specific interest to them, from marketing, finance, accounting, sales to front office, F&B, event, software development, front-end or backend development, quality assurance, to name a few. Really, there is no better way to prepare for the future than to immerse oneself in the reality of day-to-day business operations” concludes Petra Vodopija Borković.

RIT Croatia students are having a busy summer indeed!
