Altay and Myers publish in Progress in Color, Colorants and Coatings
Bilge Altay, assistant professor in the Department of Packaging and Graphic Media Science, and Bruce Myers, adjunct faculty in the Department of Architecture, co-published “Evaluating the New Pantone Matching System: Base Ink Reformulation, Color Measurement Misalignment, and Practical Limitations” in Progress in Color, Colorants and Coatings with international peers. This collaboration brings together regional and subject-matter expertise in color science, printing standards, ink formulation, and production workflows to examine recent changes to the Pantone Matching System and their implications for color communication, reproducibility, measurement consistency, and printing and packaging applications. The topic sits within ink–coating–substrate engineering, where material formulation, surface behavior, process control, color science, and sustainable manufacturing intersect.
