The College of Engineering Technology is committed to providing scholarships, support funds, and awards that help students succeed throughout their academic journey.

The following scholarships and awards are available to students in the College of Engineering Technology. Eligibility for each award varies. Review the following information to learn more about the scholarship opportunities available.

Scholarships

These awards provide direct financial support toward tuition or educational expenses.

 

CET Student Support Funds and Scholarships 

  • About: Patrick Lee Scholars demonstrate the highest ethical standards, embrace innovation and strive for professional excellence in their chosen fields. There is an absolute expectation that all scholarship recipients will carry forward the philanthropic spirit of the scholarship by giving back to the community through volunteering, mentoring and/or charitable gifts. 
  • Eligibility:
    • Full-time enrollment in an undergraduate program in the College of Engineering Technology or KGCOE.
    • U.S. citizen or permanent resident, preference will be given to students who are from a Western New York county.
    • Minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA with a preference for 3.0 or higher.
    • Demonstrated financial need, as determined by the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships.
    • Community, civic, and/or philanthropic engagement. Must have completed at least two full academic years of coursework at the time of applying.
    • No evidence of student misconduct.

  • About: Founded in July 2004, the College of Engineering Technology (CET) Development Committee has established the CET Alumni Endowed Scholarship as part of an initiative set forth by the RIT Alumni Network Board of Directors (ANBOD) in each of RIT's eight colleges. 
  • Eligibility: 
    •  Full-time enrollment in an undergraduate program in the College of Engineering Technology 
    • No evidence of student misconduct
    • Must be in good academic standing
    • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • Recipients must be able to show demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities
  • Application Requirement: Application, resume, essay

  • About: The College of Engineering Technology is proud to support our students' professional development through participation in national and regional conference attendance. A limited amount of student support funds are available each academic year. In order to receive the WIT Conference Student Support Funding, CET students must be in good academic standing, have not received funds to attend a conference in the last academic year, and are active participants in Women in Technology for at least 2 semesters. Submission of application does not guarantee receiving funds. Women in Technology is open to all students.
  • Eligibility: 
    • CET students in good academic standing
    • Students who have not received funds to attend conference in the last year (every 2 years)
    • Must be active participant in Women in Technology for at least two semesters
  • Application Requirement: Complete application form affirming eligibility requirements. Receive application information by contacting wit@rit.edu

  • About: The College of Engineering Technology is proud to support our students' professional development through participation in national and regional conference attendance. A limited number of student support funds are available each academic year. For Student Clubs/Organizations, CET can only sponsor up to four students from the organization. Individual students are welcome to submit an application to attend a conference that does not have a corresponding Student Club/Organization. Preference will be given to students who have not received funding in the past from the College of Engineering Technology Dean's Office. Students must be in good academic standing. Submission of application does not guarantee receiving funds.
  • Eligibility: 
    • CET students in good academic standing
    • Students who have not received funds to attend conference in the last year (every 2 years)
    • Must be active participant in CET CARES for at least two semesters
  • Application Requirement: Complete application form affirming eligibility requirements. Receive application information by contacting CETcares@rit.edu

  • About: CET students who participate in CET Faculty-led Study Abroad programs are automatically eligible to receive student support funds, as determined by the student’s Financial Need. 
  • Eligibility:
    • Students must be accepted into the Study Abroad program and fulfill the requirements of the Study Abroad course and experience.
    • Must demonstrate financial need, to be determined by Financial Aid.
    • Funding is dependent on budget and based on students’ financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
  • Application Requirement: No application.

Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Management and Safety (CETEMS)

  • About: Endowed in memory of Patrick Donovan
  • Eligibility: 
    • 5th Year Students in Civil Engineering Technology program graduating in spring, summer, or fall of the year that the award is given
    • Full-time student with minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80
    • FAFSA must be on file; financial need is a consideration but not a requirement
    • Participation in extra-curricular activities

  • About: Endowed in memory of Ian Rodgers
  • Eligibility: 
    • Must be a full-time undergraduate 3rd, 4th or 5th year student in the Civil Engineering Technology program for the entire academic year (taking a full class load at least one of the two semesters, fall or spring; other semester can be on co-op)
    • Must have filed your FAFSA form first week in February to be considered for the Rodgers scholarship 
    • The RIT Civil Engineering Technology (CVET) Department will use general financial need information it receives from the RIT Financial Aid Office as one of the factors in the scholarship evaluation process (other factors in the evaluation process are academic performance and involvement in extracurricular activities)

  • About: Endowed by Passero Associates
  • Eligibility: 
    • 4th or 5th year Civil Engineering Technology student 
    • Must exhibit the values of Passero Associates’ passion for excellence, integrity and service leadership
  • Application Requirements: Application and essay review.

  • About: Provided by LaBella Associates
  • Eligibility: 
    • Must be a 4th Civil Engineering Technology student 
    • First preference given to Monroe County residents, following by Western or Central NY candidates (Buffalo, Syracuse, Ithaca, or Elmira metro areas)
    • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Must demonstrate financial need

  • About: Endowed by Hamilton & Stern Construction (CVET alums)
  • Eligibility: 
    • Must be a full-time 3rd, 4th or 5th year Civil Engineering Technology student 
    • Must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
    • Must have demonstrated financial need as determined by OFAS;
    • Must have demonstrated academic excellence 
    • Must include statement of interest in the building construction field

Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering Technology (MMET)

  • About: Mr. Joseph F Novek was founder and owner of Mohawk Tool & Die, More-ware Tools, Inc & Brighton Plastics, as well as a lifetime member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineering. Established in 2003, this award provides financial assistance to students in the BS program in the MMET Department who are taking manufacturing course electives.
  • Eligibility:
    • 5th Year Students in either MCET, RMET or MECA programs
  • Application Requirements: Applicants are required to submit a short essay sharing their academic successes, interests, and career goals.

Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology (ECET)

  • About: This endowment provides academic merit and financial need-based scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students in the Electrical, Computer, and Telecommunications Engineering Technology (ECTET) Department at RIT.
  • Eligibility: Undergraduate or Graduate in the Electrical Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering Technology programs

  • Eligibility: 
    • Undergraduate or Graduate in the Electrical Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering Technology programs
    • Must have GPA 3.0 or above
    • Demonstrate financial need 
    • Demonstrated participation in one or more area community service, musical/artistic endeavors and/or leadership

  • Eligibility: 
    • Student in the Electrical Engineering Technology program

Packaging Science

  • Eligibility: 
    • Enrolled as a Packaging Science student
    • Must have completed at least two full academic years of coursework at the time of applying.
  • Application Requirement: Applicants are required to submit an application and a short essay sharing their academic successes, interests, and career goals.

    • Enrolled as a Packaging Science student

  • Eligibility: 
    • Enrolled as a Packaging Science student
    • Preference will be given to students who are from a Western New York county.
  • Application Requirement: Applicants are required to submit an application and a short essay sharing their academic successes, interests, and career goals.

  • Eligibility: 
    • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate Packaging Science student
    • Demonstrated financial need 
    • Minimum 3.2 GPA 
    • Preference will be for students who are creative and ambitious, and are demonstrating that they are helping themselves attain their college degree.
  • Application Requirement: Applicants are required to submit an application and a short essay sharing their academic successes, interests, and career goals.

  • Eligibility: 
    • Packaging Science 1st year student
    • Scholarship will support students from New England enrolled in RIT's School of Print Media. Preference will be given to students with a strong interest in pursuing a career in book publishing, printing, or supporting graphic arts field.  Note: the SOI states: "Recipient must demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing."
    • The attached guidelines state: "We recommend consideration of but do not impose rules regarding financial need, academic excellence, or personal qualifications
  • Application Requirement: Applicants are required to submit an application and a short essay sharing their academic successes, interests, and career goals.

  • About: Established in 1999 from the proceeds of a pooled life fund, the Paul & Louise Miller Endowed Scholarship is to be used to provide scholarship funds for students studying under the professor who holds the Paul & Louise Miller Distinguished Chair.
  • Application Requirement: Applicants are required to submit an application and a short essay sharing their academic successes, interests, and career goals.

  • About: This scholarship was founded by Mr. and Mrs. Donald '74 Samuels, in memory of Mr. Samuels' father, Jay P. Samuels.
  • Application Requirement: Applicants are required to submit an application and a short essay sharing their academic successes, interests, and career goals.

A formal honor acknowledging outstanding achievement that builds your professional profile without a monetary payout.

 

Open to all CET majors

  • About: The Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar Award has been established to recognize excellence in academic achievement by students. Those selected to receive the award are designated RIT Scholars in perpetuity. The achievement is noted on the Scholar’s transcript and recognized through a specially designed medallion symbolic of high academic achievement. The awards are presented at a special convocation held prior to the end of each academic year.
  • Eligibility: 
    • Full-time enrollment in an undergraduate program in the College of Engineering Technology
    • Open to eligible students, report generated from Registrar's. Applicants must have completed 83-128 credit hours of work, of which not less than 45 hours must be in RIT grade-bearing courses.
  • Application Requirements: Application, resume, brief narrative and 3 letters of recommendation. Minimum Institute Requirements

  • About: The honor of selecting a Department/College delegate should be based on overall personal achievement, and should be a student who has demonstrated the ideals of RIT including, but not limited to academic achievement. 
  • Eligibility: 
    • Full-time enrollment in an undergraduate program in the College of Engineering Technology
  • Application Requirements: Nomination from Department

  • About: The College Delegate’s will speak at the CET Ceremony and be considered by the President’s Commencement Committee to speak at Academic Convocation.
  • Eligibility: 
    • Full-time enrollment in an undergraduate program in the College of Engineering Technology
    • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.85 for all work completed at the university as of the previous spring term.

    • Students chosen must submit a 3-5 minute monologue of potential commencement speech
