Team publishes research on brightening agents in papers

Bilge Nazli Altay, assistant professor in the Department of Packaging and Graphic Media Science; Bruce Myers, associate professor in the Department of Packaging and Graphic Media Science; Yash Dhote ’23 MS (print media); and industry consultant Refik Telhan published “Impact of optical brightening agents on alkali-based inks in packaging: A comparative study on color accuracy” in the journal Color Research and Application. The research assesses color quality for printed products, focusing on the intricate interactions between optical brightening agents (OBAs) in paper and alkali-based spot color inks. The research reveals significant implications for color accuracy and the findings challenge conventional proofing procedures.
