Program Objectives

The Program Educational Objectives (PEO) for the Robotics & Manufacturing Engineering Technology program are as follows:

Graduates, five or more years after graduation, will be able to:

  • Adapt to the ever changing global world, critical thinkers who seek out growth and maintain a positive outlook during times of change.
  • Translate customer requirements into successful products or systems while balancing specifications and resources.
  • Combine practical engineering practices with continually evolving product and technological advances to provide cutting edge solutions that manage costs and reduce environmental impacts.
  • Apply statistically based quality principles as well as automation, robotics and controls to produce successful products with sustainable production costs.
  • Explain the economics of the entire manufacturing cycle, including domestic and international supply chain management.
  • Integrate a broad practical robotics and manufacturing background with current advances in materials, manufacturing, electronics, controls and data analysis to produce cutting edge sustainable products.

Student Outcomes

The Student Outcomes (SO's) for the Robotics & Manufacturing Engineering Technology program have been established such that students will demonstrate the following skills, knowledge, and behaviors, at the time of graduation.

Graduates of the Robotics & Manufacturing Engineering Technology program will have:

  1. An ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly defined engineering problems.
  2. An ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly defined engineering problems.
  3. An ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
  4. An ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
  5. An ability to function effectively as a team member as well as a leader on a technical team.
