Dr. Poteat (referred to as “Dr. P” to her students) is a full-time faculty in the College of Applied Sciences and Technology at RIT. She has served as adjunct faculty within the HSA program since 2004. Her teaching interests include health research, quality, planning, and program evaluation.

Patricia has extensive experience working in the public and private sectors of health care. She has worked at the major hospital systems over the tenure of her career in the quality/risk management department. She has experience working with not-for-profit boards. Her career spans serving in leadership roles in quality, compliance, and risk management in the Rochester community.

Students praise Dr. P for making herself available to meet with them “outside of class,” for her communication skills and level of organization and clarity of her course design. This course provides a review of the process for developing, implementing and evaluating successful community health programs and healthcare services. Students will develop materials needed for their educational/intervention program based on a needs assessment. The use of data systems to assess the effectiveness of the program to share with funding sources and others will be explored.
