Imagine RIT festival starts tonight
Performing Arts competition at 6 p.m.; 400 exhibits on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow
The 12th annual Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival kicks off at 6 tonight in Ingle Auditorium with Dr. Munson’s Performing Arts Competition. Then, tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., we pull back the curtain on creativity and innovation with some 400 interactive exhibits in science, technology, engineering, the arts and more, plus live entertainment.
The festival, which is free and open to the public, takes place rain or shine, but 90 percent of the exhibits are indoors. Text “Imaginerit” to 888777 to receive real-time text alerts from RIT on such things as weather, traffic and emergencies. Subscriptions are anonymous, and participants will automatically be unsubscribed from the service at the end of the festival.
Visit Plan Your Day to view a list of the exhibits, performances and amenities as well as a map of the festival. This year’s premier sponsors are Juniper Networks and Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. Rochester Regional Health is sponsoring Dr. Munson’s Performing Arts Challenge; Media Sponsor is Democrat & Chronicle, and the Silver Sponsor is Coca-Cola.
