Overview
Periodic comprehensive academic program review (APR) helps to ensure strong academic program quality, drive appropriate resource alignment, and encourage program development. RIT’s process is managed by the following:
- Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Associate Provost for Student Success
- Associate Provost/Dean RIT Graduate School
Definitions
RIT’s Office of Institutional Research, Data and Analytics prepared a guidance document which defines the terms, metrics, and benchmarks used in the APR process.
Current APR Process
Review the APR Timeline which explains the process, timing and responsible parties for annual APR actions.
Key actions from the APR Timeline:
- December: APR data is provided by RIT’s Office of Institutional Research, Data and Analytics via a dashboard.
- January: Deans update APR History Worksheet and submit an action report to the Provost, Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Associate Provost for Student Success, and Associate Provost/Dean RIT Graduate School.
- February: Deans meet with the Provost, Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Associate Provost for Student Success, and Associate Provost/Dean RIT Graduate School to discuss APR actions taken based on previous year’s APR letter and proposed goals/actions based on the current APR data.
- March: Deans will receive a letter from the Provost outlining expected actions.
