Deactivate or Discontinue a College Exploration Program

Process
The deactivation or discontinuance of a College Exploration Program must be reviewed and approved by the College Curriculum Committee(s) involved with the College Exploration Program.
Undeclared Programs will follow the same guidance as College Exploration Programs.
If the College Curriculum Committee(s) and the applicable Dean(s) are in agreement about deactivating or discontinuing, a memo must be sent from the applicable Dean’s Office to the Office of the Vice Provost requesting that deactivation or discontinuance occur. In that memo, include the following:
- Rationale for deactivation or discontinuance
- Timing of deactivation or discontinuance
- Plan for how current students in the College Exploration Program will be able to complete it on time and without hardship
The Office of the Vice Provost will review the deactivation or discontinuance request.
After Approval
If the request is approved, the following actions will occur:
- The Office of the Vice Provost will notify:
- The Provost
- The Registrar's Office
- University Creative Services, Marketing and Communications
- The Dean and Associate Dean for the applicable college
- The Department Chair for the program in which the College Exploration Program resides
- The Chair of ICC
- If the College Exploration Program is being deactivated, it will be moved to the "Deactivated and Discontinued" section of the Programs of Study website during the annual bulletin process and will not be published in marketing materials or future undergraduate bulletins.
- Once all students who are currently in the College Exploration Program have completed the program, it may be discontinued removed from the Programs of Study website.
- To reactivate a deactivated College Exploration Program, please contact the Office of the Vice Provost for guidance.
- If the College Exploration Program is being discontinued, it will be removed from the Programs of Study website during the annual bulletin process. It will also be removed from all marketing materials and future undergraduate bulletins.
