Accreditation

Rochester Institute of Technology is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE or the Commission) www.msche.org. Rochester Institute of Technology’s accreditation status is Accreditation Reaffirmed. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on June 25, 2026 was to reaffirm. MSCHE is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to conduct accreditation and pre-accreditation (candidate status) activities for institutions of higher education including distance, correspondence education, and direct assessment programs offered at those institutions. The Commission’s geographic area of accrediting activities is throughout the United States.

Many of our undergraduate and graduate degree programs are accredited by specialized accreditation agencies based on their discipline. These agencies have unique standards for assessing academic quality and student learning.

The Provost’s Office tracks and maintains accreditation-related documents (self-studies, progress reports, final reports) for academic programs that have specialized accreditation.
