Proposal Form
Changes to an existing minor must be submitted on the Minor Proposal Form, with tracked changes that clearly identify the proposed changes to the existing minor.
Process and Required Approvals
The procedures for revising a minor are defined in the following RIT policies:
- RIT Policy D01.0 (Policies for Curriculum Development), Section III (Minors)
- RIT Policy D01.1 (Minors Policy), Section IV (Procedures for Minor Revision).
Once a minor is approved by the ICC, changes to the minor that do not have a significant effect on its focus may be completed with the approval of the involved academic unit(s) and the College Curriculum Committee(s).
Significant changes to the focus of the minor (core requirements that affect the structure – e.g., number of courses required, sequence of courses, decreased access to the minor – and/or changes that affect a student’s ability to complete the minor within the timeframe allowed for completion of the baccalaureate degree) must be approved by the appropriate academic unit(s) curriculum committee(s), the College Curriculum Committee(s) and be resubmitted by the college’s ICC representative to the ICC Chairperson for final consideration and approval. View the contact information for the current ICC Chairperson and college representatives.
After ICC Approval
Once the changes are approved by ICC, it is the responsibility of the college to submit an updated curriculum table to the Office of the Vice Provost during the annual bulletin process.
After the revised minor is approved and implemented, it will appear RIT’s List of Approved Minors where students can click on a minor to view an overview and curriculum.
