- Market Analysis Requirement
Overview
A market analysis is the first step for new degree program intent documents, new dual degree proposals, and title changes for existing programs. The purpose of the market analysis is to ensure that there is sufficient demand for the proposed new program or title change.
The Divisions of Enrollment Management and Marketing and Communications conduct market research to support decision-making for a new or retitled degree program offering at RIT. The research may include search engine data and trends, marketplace competition, and potential job outlook for the programs that are being studied. The end product of this research is a market analysis and recommendation from Enrollment Management.
Process
- To request a market analysis from RIT Enrollment Management, complete and submit this form.
- Enrollment Management will send the completed market analysis and recommendation to the Dean, Associate Dean, and individual(s) who requested the analysis.
- The market analysis must be completed BEFORE the new degree program intent document, new dual degree program proposal, or title change can proceed.
- In instances where the market analysis and recommendation from Enrollment Management suggest that the new program, new dual degree, or title change should not come to market, the Dean will decide how to proceed and can add a statement regarding actions, if any, that were taken with respect to the market analysis.
- The Dean’s statement can accompany the complete market analysis and proposal or application that it is sent to one of the following:
- ICC (for title changes or substantive undergraduate program changes which include a title change)
- Graduate Council (for title changes or graduate program substantive changes which include a title change)
- Office of the Vice Provost (for new degree program intent documents, new dual degree proposals, or title changes)
