Carichino receives award for contact lens project

Lucia Carichino, assistant professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, received the NSF LEAPS award “LEAPS-MPS: Computational Modeling of the Interaction between the Eye and a Contact Lens.” The project will develop a computational framework to improve contact lens fitting and comfort. Theoretical predictions will assist contact lens manufacturers in anticipating the fitting and performance of a lens design, without the need to manufacture and test it in a costly clinical trial.
