Recent graduates, student publish paper in ‘Technologies’

Sarah Oakes ’21 MS (materials science and engineering), Ryan Keeley ’21 MS (materials science and engineering), and physics student Hunter Heineman were lead authors on an article published in the journal Technologies. The article, “Vacuum UV (VUV) Photo-oxidation of Polyethersulfone (PES),” shared their research on a membrane used in water purification that is used to oxidize the surface and make it more attractive to water and repulsive to organic waste. The research was conducted under the direction of their mentor, Gerald Takacs, professor in the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, with support from Tom Allston and Joel Shertok
