Overview

At RIT, we know that parents are an important part of the campus community. Family support and involvement are essential factors for helping students achieve their academic and career goals. In our partnership with you, we know that students will receive the information, support, and resources they need to be successful at RIT and beyond.

You will likely find that parenting a college student is quite different than parenting a high schooler. While your students will still need your advice and support in many areas, they will also be discovering their adult identities, and will begin to take on the challenges and responsibilities of adulthood themselves. By allowing your students to lead, and offering support and resources while encouraging them to take action on their own, you are providing your sons and daughters with skills that they will use for the rest of their lives.

The Parent and Family Programs office is here to help parents through their student’s transition into adulthood. This website was developed to be parents’ first stop for questions about RIT. We want you to be familiar with the resources available here, so that you can point your students in the right direction when they approach you with an issue or concern. Additionally, you can always contact the Parent and Family Programs office with questions. I am here to help you navigate the system and support your Tiger.

Welcome to the Parent and Family Programs Office!
