An immersive experience outside the student’s home culture whereby architecture is studied as the outcome of historic, social, cultural, religious, and physical factors.

An architectural design studio focused on responding to the modern urban context. Project locations include those along the general urban to urban core transect zones.

An integrated study of architectural materials and systems that comprise a building project’s substructure and sitework including site civil engineering and landscaping, water management, soils, and site utilities.

The integrative study of building envelopes, structural systems for masonry and steel buildings, and select core building services of non-residential buildings.

The measurement science, performance metrics, assessment tools, and fundamental data critical for the development and implementation of building systems associated with life-cycle operation of buildings while maintaining a healthy indoor environment.

Masters-level scholarship by the candidate under the direction of the instructor. The topic will be as mutually agreed upon by the student and faculty. Examples include acting as a research assistant for a faculty member’s scholarship, working in a research center, researching for an A/E firm, etc.

Students continue work on the thesis begun previously. They execute a methods and procedures plan, analyze the data, arrive at a conclusion and successfully defend it.

This course is for Master of Architecture students who require additional time to complete their thesis. Students should enroll for one credit unless otherwise instructed.
