About the Project

The Project

Out with the Old: Oracle eBusiness Suite

RIT has relied on Oracle eBusiness Suite (also known as Oracle, myInfo, or eBiz) since 1998. Now nearing end-of-life, it poses increasing risks to data security and system reliability. This legacy ERP system supports essential functions like payroll, benefits, expense reimbursements, and approvals—but it’s time for a modern upgrade.

In with the New: Workday

To meet the evolving needs of our university, RIT is transitioning to Workday, a modern, cloud-based ERP solution. After a competitive selection process, we chose Accenture as our implementation partner to guide us through this transformation. The implementation began in Summer 2024, with the launch of HR and Finance modules planned for January 1, 2026. Workday will streamline operations, enhance security, and improve the user experience for faculty, staff, and administrators.

Our Vision

Operation Tiger Cloud is the catalyst to modernize and standardize RIT’s logistical engine, making our human resources and financial systems frictionless, transparent and user-friendly.

We leverage system efficiencies and align processes to transform RIT.

Technology is in our name and in our DNA: We pride ourselves on our creativity, innovation, and vision for the future.

Guiding Principles

We use these project guiding principles to ensure:
Consistent Decision-Making: drive consistent, aligned decisions, especially when faced with challenges or conflicting choices.
Team Alignment: align all stakeholders, including team members, sponsors, and clients, with the vision and approach.

  • Engage stakeholders in all phases through reciprocal change management and communication to ensure RIT community is operational at launch and beyond.
  • As common as possible, as different as necessary.
  • Align solutions to university goals and user needs.
  • Adopt a "Workday First" approach:
    • Consolidate and simplify systems, processes and integrations.
    • Create a trusted single source of record
    • Structure data for accurate, timely and actionable reporting.
    • Leverage leading practices.
  • Foster a culture of transparency and data-driven decision-making.
  • Crawl. Walk. Run.

By the Numbers

Operation Tiger Cloud members have actively engaged the RIT community through a wide range of outreach efforts, reaching well over 1,000 employees. These efforts include eight Ambassador Meetings, five Staff Council Meetings, and more than ten Department and Division Meetings, covering areas like Diversity & Inclusion, ITS Town Halls, and F&A Budget planning. The team also connected with students and faculty through guest lectures, a Faculty Senate Meeting, and a Student Government Meeting. Three employee surveys and eleven “Workday Workouts” offered additional opportunities for feedback and collaboration. These initiatives reflect our shared commitment to building a powerful future—one Workday at a time. By fostering open communication and inclusive participation, the project team continues to support a culture of innovation and transparency across the university.
