Timeline Update

End-user training is now underway! In parallel, we’re advancing other critical deployment activities, including data migration and validation, integration testing, and planning for system and user support.

Training and Learning

How can I get trained on Workday?

At RIT, we’re taking a “Crawl, Walk, Run” approach to adopting the Workday platform—starting with the essentials and gradually building confidence and skills over time. This phased strategy ensures everyone has the time, resources, and support needed to learn, adapt, and thrive with Workday.

All RIT employees are encouraged to complete Employee Self-Service (ESS) and Manager Self-Service (MSS) (managers only) training before go-live. We’ve designed flexible options to fit your learning style:

  • Project Team Sessions: Join a live Zoom training session led by the Operation Tiger Cloud project team.
  • Independent Study: Access the self-paced modules in Talent Roadmap.
  • Open Labs: Additional support for ESS-related topics, such as expense reports, P-Cards, and time tracking will be available 3:00 to 4:00 PM, Monday, December 15 through Friday, December 19.
    • Zoom details will be posted soon on the OTC Website.

You can choose any one of the above approaches—or combine them—to ensure you’re fully prepared. After launch, self-paced learning materials will also be available directly within Workday.

"Freeze" Dates and Cutover Activities

What else do I need to do to prepare for Workday?

As part of our preparation for the upcoming Workday migration, please review the Legacy System Freeze Dates on the Operation Tiger Cloud website for the most current information on system freeze dates.

Highlights: Important Dates and Actions Before Go-Live:

  • For RIT employees that use a PNC Corporate Card:
    • Any RIT corporate card transactions—such as those on the Corporate-paid Group Travel Card (CPGT) or Corporate-paid Travel Agency Card (CTA)—that are not processed by December 10 will automatically carry over into Workday.
    • NOTE: individual liability transactions travel and expense cards will not transfer. Any unprocessed individual transactions as of December 10 must be manually entered into an expense report in Workday on or after January 5, 2026.
  • Any Oracle Purchase Requisition not approved by Noon on 12/12 will need to be re-entered into Workday on or after January 5, 2026.
  • Enter Spring stipend payment requests in Oracle by December 8.  With the additional RIT holiday date of January 2, there will be an even shorter window to submit payment requests for January 16th payment. Enter them now if possible!

Note: This is not a complete list - please visit Legacy Systems Freeze Dates for more information and other critical dates.

Support and Engagement

How will I get support for Workday at and after go-live?

As Tier 1 support, the RSC will provide assistance with Workday just as it does for other RIT systems. However, you’ll also have access to comprehensive Tier 0 resources, including job aids, video tutorials, and localized guidance from our Ambassador Network, to help you quickly find answers and navigate the system with confidence.

Succeeding Together

Workday’s intuitive interface is accessible on web, mobile, and tablet devices using any browser or operating system. Multi-tiered support will be available to help users learn and use Workday effectively.

If an issue cannot be resolved through self-service (Tier 0), visit help.rit.edu for assistance. The RSC will escalate issues as needed.

To support the RIT community after go-live, virtual drop-in sessions, open labs, and other direct support options will also be available.

Tiered Support Model

What is "Tier 0" Support?

Tier 0: Self-Service Support

Getting started with Workday is easier than you might think! The platform is designed to be intuitive, so many users quickly feel comfortable navigating and exploring its features. In fact, some find they can answer their own questions with just a little guidance.

To make your learning journey even smoother, we’re creating a range of self-service tools and resources, including:

  • In-system help text and job aids for step-by-step guidance for common tasks
  • RSC Knowledge Base Articles (KBAs) with answers to common Workday questions
  • Helpful handouts for reference information
  • FAQs for instant answers to popular questions

Coming in January: Hands-On Help

In January, we’ll offer more open labs and drop-in sessions where you can get more support. Dates will be posted on the OTC website as soon as they’re available.

Workday Ambassadors

Another key part of Tier 0 support is our dedicated Workday Ambassadors - knowledgeable members of the RIT community who volunteered to help navigate this change. They can be part of your first line of support for basic questions, and we applaud and appreciate their commitment to RIT’s successful transition to Workday!

Stay tuned—we will continue to add to these resources to empower you to get the most out of Workday, at your own pace.

Stay Engaged and Informed

  • Watch for communications from your local training partners and/or Ambassadors.
  • Visit the Operation Tiger Cloud website for updates, course schedules and future support opportunities, like post go-live drop-in sessions.
  • Participate in training to prepare for a smooth transition to Workday.
  • Look for our next newsletter on 12/3, "30 Days to Go Live!".

Workday is going live on January 2, 2026!

We've been working hard to make sure Workday works for the RIT Community.  Here's some of the latest news:

We’re officially in our Deployment phase.  Key deployment activities include cutover planning and execution, training and preparing for post–go-live support.  Keep reading for some key messages about all three topics.

"Freeze" Dates and Cutover Activities

As part of our preparation for the upcoming Workday migration, please review the Legacy System Freeze Dates on the Operation Tiger Cloud website for the most current information on system freeze dates.

Additional related recommendations on things to do now:

  • Download your transcripts now from Talent Roadmap for your personal records.  Find a Knowledge Base Article describing how to do this here.
  • Exempt employees: ensure all July 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025 time off requests are entered into Oracle by December 14.  Any 2026 requests must be entered into Workday after go-live.
  • Enter Spring stipend payment requests in Oracle by December 8.  With the additional RIT holiday date of January 2, there will be an even shorter window to submit payment requests for January 16th payment. Enter them now if possible!  Note: stipend payment/Period Activity Pay Zoom "drop-in" sessions will be scheduled for January 5, 6 & 7 for additional user support.

Note: December 2025 close will take place in Oracle.  Please follow normal month end close activities: https://www.rit.edu/controller/monthly-closings

Training and Learning Expectations

With any new system implementation there is a natural learning curve – that is OK, we are in this together!

At RIT we are taking a Crawl Walk Run approach: we will begin with the essentials and build confidence and skills over time. This phased and gradual approach ensures that everyone has the time and support they need to discover, learn, and excel with Workday.

Crawl

Prior to go live: users are encouraged to participate in training, understand key concepts, and practice tasks in Workday’s sandbox environment.

Walk

At go live/January 2026: users begin to complete tasks in Workday, utilizing resources like open labs/drop-in sessions, job aids and videos to build confidence and enhance their competency.

Run

Over time: users develop a strong proficiency in completing all expected tasks, running reports, and acquiring advanced skills in Workday.

Train the Trainer (TTT)

Over the past several weeks, more than 100 colleagues participated in Train-the-Trainer (TTT) sessions, gaining early access to the topics covered in Employee Self-Service (ESS) and Manager Self-Service (MSS) training. These peer trainers will deliver in-person and virtual ESS and MSS sessions within their colleges and departments and will continue to be a resource after go-live.

We are grateful to these members of the RIT community for their commitment to learning, embracing change, and supporting the success of the Workday project.

In the coming weeks, your peer training partners will share details about upcoming learning opportunities.

Note: If you don't have a TTT volunteer in your college or department, keep reading!  There are other resources available.

Answers from our ESS Trainers in response to "What will you enjoy most about using Workday?"

Succeeding Together

Workday’s intuitive interface is accessible on web, mobile, and tablet devices using any browser or operating system. Multi-tiered support will be available to help users learn and use Workday effectively.

Volume 4:
"A day in the life"

Marketing Lockup of RIT logo and Workday logo with Operation Tiger Cloud beneath

Dear RIT Colleague,

We hope the back-to-school season is treating you well! We've been working hard to make sure Workday works for RIT, and here's some of the latest news:

Overall project timeline

subway stop timeline showing that we are entering the testing phase in June until October.

We're wrapping up the initial Testing phase. We have completed several preliminary payroll test runs and are preparing for Payroll Parallel testing, where we will compare Oracle and Workday payroll results to ensure accuracy and prove our confidence.

Learn more on our website.

Your day in Workday

Imagine starting your day with a single, user-friendly platform where you can submit expenses, review job applications, update your personal information, run real-time reports that matter to you, and approve time-off requests. That’s the power of Workday.

As RIT transitions to Workday, you’ll notice a shift in how often you interact with our administrative systems. Workday is designed with self-service in mind, meaning more of us will use it more frequently. We'll see more processes that all employees can initiate, and further financial management and a people management tasks that leaders can initiate in one security role.

So, what might you do in Workday each day?

Employee Self-Service

Similar to Employee Self-Service today, this enables you to manage your information.

  • Recently move? Edit your personal information, like address and emergency contacts, in Workday.
  • Taking time off? View time off accruals, and request time off.
  • Check your payslip, update tax withholdings and direct deposit information, all in Workday.
  • Hourly employee? Clock in and out, request edits, and review and submit your hours in Workday.
  • Updating your benefits during open enrollment or a qualifying life event? Manage your plans and dependents in Workday with ease.
  • Looking for your next big move or a new opportunity on campus? Search the Jobs Hub in Workday.
  • Learn a new skill or prep for that interview with training in Workday.
  • Purchased work materials or traveled for work? Workday is your new home for expenses, travel reimbursements, and procurement.

Manager Self-Service

This role is similar to current-day Supervisor and Manager Self-Service combined.

  • Hiring a new employee? Job requisitioncompensationhiring, and onboarding are all in Workday with automated approval routing.
  • Moving a staff member to part-time or initiating a leave? Perform employee actions and requests right in Workday, with automatic routing for approvals, with no more EAFs!
  • Managing hourly employees? Review and approve timecards and time off requests, including student employees!
  • Develop your employees by setting performance goals, tracking progress and completing performance appraisals all in Workday.
  • Boost team skills by assigning learning courses and tracking completion.
  • Approve expenses, procurement and travel in Workday workflows that notify you at the right time.
  • Manage your budget with real-time data, access dashboards and generate reports with drill-down capabilities.

Workday training is coming!

As RIT prepares to launch Workday, a variety of training opportunities will be available to support faculty and staff. These include:

  • self-paced resources,
  • on-demand recordings,
  • hands-on labs, and
  • instructor-led training sessions, including role-specific lessons

We'll communicate training specifics beginning in October, providing ample time to learn while keeping it timely for when we launch in January 2026. Stay tuned for more details!

One key component of this training strategy is the Train-the-Trainer (TTT) program. TTT volunteers will receive early access to Workday, hands-on instruction, and presentation materials to deliver live training within their departments. Trainers will specialize in functional areas and serve as trusted guides for their colleagues.

We're seeking volunteers who are:

  • energetic, engaging, and strong communicators who love to help others learn,

  • managers who want to help train other managers on the leadership components of Workday,

  • the "super users" who you always turn to for help in Oracle today, or

  • manager nominations of go-to colleagues who are trusted, approachable, and eager to help others.

Managers are encouraged to nominate colleagues or volunteer themselves to support leadership-focused training. Managers will receive a separate follow-up communication with more details about the TTT program and how to nominate.

Managers: Leading change starts with you!

Managers play a pivotal role in helping teams adapt to new ways of working. To support this, we’re launching a structured initiative designed to equip leaders with the tools, insights, and strategies to guide team-level change.

Your participation is crucial to your department’s success with Workday. Managers will:

  • receive targeted communications about upcoming changes,
  • access a variety of resources about Workday and related change topics,
  • share focused updates with teams to support readiness, and
  • act as a feedback channel.

This approach ensures managers are informed, prepared, and actively engaged throughout the rollout. Ongoing communications and resources will support managers throughout the Workday go-live.

More details will be shared directly with managers in upcoming communications.

Get involved!

Our upcoming community engagements like those above, and others like our ambassador network, are all conveniently located on our project website at rit.edu/tigercloud/get-involved.

Let's build a powerful future together, one Workday at a time.

Student offer letters will be included in the onboarding process, and will be customizable for the division and position.
  • Visibility into existing appointments
Requestors can see if a student holds another GRA appointment or any other on-campus roles.
  • Real-time tracking
Stipend requestors can view the status of payments and approvals.
  • Flexible Start and End Dates
Departments can customize stipend effort periods.
  • Simplified account code management
No need to manually enable account codes.
  • Unified grant effort certification and costing assignments
GRAs will be included in the same certification and costing assignment processes as faculty and staff.
  • Tuition Remission Certification
Certification is prompted via linked reports for Principal Investigators.
  • Payroll Accounting Adjustments
Costing changes are handled through payroll accounting adjustments.

Transition timeline and what to expect

Fall Semester 2025

To support the transition, stipend requests should only be submitted for each semester instead of the full year.
Oracle will be updated to enforce this temporary change.

After January 2026 Workday launch

Stipends are distributed across bi-weekly pay dates within the term.
Example: A stipend from January 12 to May 8, 2026 will be paid across bi-weekly dates from January 30 to May 22.

Where do I go for more information?

To help you navigate Workday, we’re continuously updating our Stipend Payments page at Stipend Changes | Operation Tiger Cloud | RIT to provide updates, terminology, and concepts to prepare for the change.

Formal training will be available to help the RIT community adapt to these changes. More details will be posted as they become available.

If you have questions or need support, please reach out to tigercloud@rit.edu. We're here to help you through the transition.

Volume 3:
Staff Performance Appraisals

Marketing Lockup of RIT logo and Workday logo with Operation Tiger Cloud beneath

Dear RIT Colleague,

We hope your summer session is off to a great start! Here's what's new in the Operation Tiger Cloud project:

Workday staff performance appraisals
are coming!

RIT is launching a phased rollout of a new, fully digital staff performance appraisal process in Workday. This approach is designed to make the review process more accessible, consistent, and transparent, as well as better supporting professional development — with full implementation expected by Spring 2027.

Why it matters to you

  • You’ll have more visibility into your goals and progress.
  • You’ll benefit from a more aligned, university-wide staff performance review process that builds on existing best practices.
  • Your manager will have access to data and training to support more meaningful performance conversations.

What’s changing?

  • Fully digital
No more paper or disconnected systems. Everything from goal setting to final reviews will be in one place.

  • Real-time feedback
A central place to set goals, track progress, and receive feedback throughout the year.

  • Aligned with career growth
The new process will align with RIT’s Staff Career Architecture, helping to connect performance expectations with defined career levels and roles.

  • Measurable and consistent
Managers will have access to tools that will help them
calibrate performance, supporting a more consistent application of ratings.

Performance phased rollout

We're phasing the rollout to gather feedback, refine the process, and ensure a smooth transition for all staff. Here's what to expect:

Spring 2026: A pilot group of select staff units will begin training and utilizing the new system for performance appraisals. All other units will continue with their current process.

November 2026–January 2027: Staff on the calendar year performance schedule begin using Workday for the staff appraisal process.

May 2027–July 2027: Staff on the fiscal year performance schedule begin using Workday for the staff appraisal process.

Timeline at a glance

We're currently testing the Performance Appraisal processes in our test system and things are looking great! Stay tuned for updates.

Support and training

This isn’t just a system change; it’s a shift toward a culture of continuous learning and performance that values accountability, encourages honest feedback, and supports long-term career development. Here's how we'll support you:

You’ll receive system-specific Workday training to help you learn how to navigate the platform, set goals, complete self-evaluations, and participate in reviews. We'll offer instructor-led and self-study options for all learner types.

Talent Development will introduce training for both managers and employees to build skills such as giving and receiving feedback, setting SMART goals aligned with university initiatives, and engaging in meaningful performance conversations throughout the year.

We’ll keep you updated as your unit’s launch date approaches. In the meantime, stay tuned for training opportunities and additional resources.

Marketing Lockup of RIT logo and Workday logo with Operation Tiger Cloud beneath

Dear RIT Colleague,

We hope you had a great end to the 2024–2025 academic year! As we head into summer, the Workday implementation team is gearing up for testing, training creation, and final system configurations.

What's New?

Operation Tiger Cloud is bringing Workday to RIT in January 2026!

Say goodbye to Oracle Self-Service—soon you’ll manage pay, benefits, expenses, and more in one modern, user-friendly system. Workday's built-in workflows streamline approvals, making the process faster and smoother while eliminating forms and email chains.

Moving to Workday in Jan. 2026

  • Pay and Expenses: All payroll, state and federal tax withholdings, and expenses are processed in Workday.
  • Timekeeping: Kronos is retired. Nonexempt (hourly) employees, including student employees, enter time via kiosks, desktop, or app.
  • Job Postings: Staff job profiles align to the Staff Career Architecture project and auto-fill during hiring requisitions.
  • Talent Acquisition: Kenexa/BrassRing is retired. Recruiting and hiring for staff, student employees, and faculty move to Workday.
  • Learning: Talent Roadmap, our current home for professional development courses, is replaced by Workday Learning, which is also the new location for LinkedIn Learning courses.
  • Performance Appraisals: The staff appraisal process moves from Talent Roadmap to Workday for a more consistent experience.
  • Reporting: Workday's core functionality improves data entry in both HR and Finance, and offers real-time reporting and transaction drilldowns, reducing tedious manual reporting.

What's My Access?

  • All applicable roles are tied to your single login. No more swapping roles or logging in with another account!
  • Employee Self-Service (All Employees)
    • Take charge of your own data! Kick off personal information changes all at your fingertips!
  • Functional Roles (e.g. HR, Finance)
    • Certain roles kick off higher-level processes, like recruiting or budget amendments.
  • Manager Self-Service (Managers)
    • Manage direct reports by initiating compensation or job changes, assigning training, and more!

System Previews

We’re excited to share our preview recordings—short, focused demos previewing RIT’s Workday system. You'll be introduced to many standard business processes that support a successful launch, emphasizing usability, efficiency, and readiness.

Ambassador March Recap

Marketing Lockup of RIT logo and Workday logo with Operation Tiger Cloud beneath

Dear Ambassador,

Thank you for joining our March Operation Tiger Cloud Ambassador meeting! It was a fantastic session with our special guest Rachel Guy, and we're excited to follow up with more information.

Once again, we had many great questions and Rachel kindly assisted to document some answers, so read to the end for your Q&A response!

Key Points:

  • Project Update
    • We are in the Unit Testing phase of Architecture and Configuration.
    • A small, invite-only audience was recruited by the functional leads for early demos in April. We'll ensure coverage across different areas of the university.
  • Campus Survey
    • We shared a few key responses that influence our communications and training strategies and discussed areas in which we're already taking action.
  • Foundation Data Model (FDM)
    • We showcased how the Workday Foundation Data Model helps to filter and pre-fill data using driver and related worktags for transaction processing.
    • The FDM eliminates complex tracking codes and ensures ease-of-use for end-users across the university. This plain-English approach to transactions enables cleaner processing and easier tracking of transactions.
    • FDM driver and related worktags enhance our reporting functionality to help drive real-time reports that capture the right data consistently!
  • Q&A
    • Spend Categories:
      • Are Spend Categories required for each transaction? Spend categories will appear on all expense transactions. They are required on requisitions, purchase orders, and supplier invoices. We will include them in payroll, but we have a choice on manual journals. Note that we will not budget to spend categories.
    • Searching and Reporting:
      • How do I run a report to see all activity related to one PI? This depends on who is running the report. Faculty members can run everything from a single dashboard based on their security roles. For admin/partner persons, we create prompts on reports to show all of a specific PI's grants.
      • Will it search all active grants or only grants in your cost center (my current department)? We are still exploring this.
      • If two PIs have grants have the same word in the title, is it easy to ensure they are selecting their grant? Other than the name, you can see other relevant worktags such as cost center and operating unit. If those are still too similar, you can cross-reference your grant number to your PIM docs or check with your SPA rep. We are exploring adding additional identifiers to award titles.
      • Can we limit who can do these types of transactions within the departments? Both creating requisitions and creating expense reports are self-serve tenant-wide access functionalities. There will be approval flow processes to ensure proper worktags are used.
      • I have some grants with very long titles. Are these truncated in Workday? No, Workday does not have a character limit. We are utilizing the complete titles as provided by Novelution.
    • Delegation & Permissions:
      • I create expense reports for many of my colleagues. Is that still an option in Workday? Yes, someone within the department can create expense reports for others. On requisitions, they can default in a requestor if it isn’t for them.
      • Do worktags have a sense of "permissions" with them, such that only certain people may apply certain tags? No, this is not how Workday works. We have routing for approvals to validate which worktags should be used together. Driver worktags are essential tools to ensure correct tags on transactions. If you try to combine tags that don’t go together, you will get an error.
    • Account Enabling:
      • How will accounts be enabled in Workday? Users will no longer have to request accounts to be enabled. Each of the FDM elements, like spend categories, will be in their own pool, and users can pick from those pools as needed. Driver tags will provide the necessary FDM elements for the transaction. New FDM elements created by CTO will be communicated to users.
    • HR and Finance Department References:
      • There is a mismatch in Oracle between HR department vs. Finance department. Will HR department references match Finance? Position Organization Assignments for the worker default in on an expense report. The cost center on the position is considered the ‘home’ department. The supervisory organization represents who reports to whom, whereas the cost center represents who ‘owns’ the position.

Takeaways:

Check out the updates to the Ambassador Resources page, where you'll find:

  • the recording of today's meeting
  • updated posters for print or digital signage, and
  • existing resources shared in our last meeting.

We updated the Ambassador list. Please help us identify additional areas where we could use partners. We'd love to have more ambassadors join!

Coming Soon:

We're building a resource to help you share the FDM experience as related to expenses, where most people will interact with it, including talk tracks to get started.

Stay tuned for this to come in a separate email over the next week.

As always, we aim to provide the information you need when you need it. Please let us know what resources and information you would like on the Operation Tiger Cloud site, or share any general feedback on your user experience.

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for joining our February Operation Tiger Cloud Ambassador meeting! Welcome to our new members who have signed up — we're excited you're here.

This message will be slightly longer than usual to help answer your questions, so thanks for reading to the end!

Key Points from Our January Call:

  • Project Update
    • We are in Phase/Workset C of Architecture and Configuration.
    • A small, invite-only audience was recruited by the functional leads for early demo and testing opportunities. We'll ensure coverage across different areas the university. Additional opportunities will come in the April-May timeframe.
  • Campus Survey
    • Thank you for your participation and feedback! We gathered over 1000 responses across the university, including over 20% from faculty.
    • Initial data highlights opportunities for the team to communicate in key areas, but overall feedback is optimistic, and the project team is already taking action.
  • Security Spotlight
    • We discussed the many data security features of Workday, further outlined in the Workday Security and Data Privacy guide.
    • We identified the basics of Security Roles, including how security roles attach to the user's seat, not to the individual, which improves succession planning!
  • Introducing WOWs
    • We highlighted our first Win on Workday (WOW!), where Google Maps integrations with travel reimbursements will save time and improve accuracy.
  • Q&A
    • Q - Will different cities' per diem rates be built into the expense tool?
      • A - Yes, Workday will have GSA rate tables embedded and the ability to pull in different cities' rates.
    • Q - Will Funddriver still be used or rolled into Workday?
      • A - We are designing Workday gifts to provide the same information end users would have been able to access in Funddriver.
    • Q - How will Tzell (travel agent) interface with this?
      • A - Tzell will continue to be an RIT-designated travel agency and assist travelers and administrators when making business travel arrangements. Our existing RIT Central Travel Account (CTA) and Government Travel Account (GTA) will continue to provide a convenient payment method that does not require travelers to tie up their credit limit on their corporate travel card. RIT will continue to process payment each month to each travel agency and then charge the appropriate department's general ledger account.
    • Q - Will staff be posting student travel reimbursement?
      • A - We are actively working on this configuration and will have additional information in the future. Please stay tuned
    • Q - Will our current time clocks still work? How will this affect Kronos?
      • A - The project team and impacted stakeholders are working to determine the impact in this area. Please stay tuned!

Dear Ambassador,

Thank you again for joining our Operation Tiger Cloud Ambassador Team! We appreciate your partnership. And thank you to our new members who have signed up since! We're excited to have you join, and would love to share this information with you.

Here are some key points from our kickoff call:

We discussed:

  • Workday Launch
    • Scheduled for January 2026. Post-launch, Oracle will no longer be used for HR, Payroll, and Finance. The goal is to provide efficient, transparent, and standardized processes, real-time data, and ease of use.
  • Oracle Student/SIS
    • No changes here; it remains our student management system.
  • Project Phase
    • We are in the “Architect & Configure Phase,” working on broad process design and early builds of the RIT-specific system.
  • Getting to Know Workday
    • Watch this informative video to learn some basics of Workday self-service.
  • Ambassadors
    • As we establish the ambassador program, we encourage two-way feedback between you and the project team. You can always reach us at tigercloud@rit.edu to share feedback from yourselves or your teams.
  • Campus Readiness
    • While we're excited about the improved systems and processes, it's important to remember that Workday is not a cure-all and may be confused with other ongoing changes. Change Management can help coach ambassadors in navigating these conversations as we progress.

Homework:

Check out the new Ambassador Resources on Operation Tiger Cloud, where you'll find:

  • the recording of today's meeting
  • sample email to introduce yourself as an Operation Tiger Cloud Ambassador.
  • getting started video to share with your team

  • an overview of the results of our last survey and campus interviews
  • a list of current ambassadors
    • Please review and email tigercloud@rit.edu with suggestions of who to add.
    • If you joined via the subscription form this week, please let us know. An error prevented viewing about 8 new names. We'd love to add you to the list!

As always, we aim to provide the information you need when you need it. Please let us know what resources and information you would like on the Operation Tiger Cloud site, or share any general feedback on your user experience.

Welcome to Workday

Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to announce that the University has selected Workday enterprise resource planning (ERP) as the replacement for our current Oracle system. Workday is a cloud-based platform that provides seamless functionality and will allow us to transform our financial and human resources business processes to better serve our faculty, staff, and student employees.

We are replacing RIT’s ERP because our current system, Oracle eBiz, was implemented in 1998 and is approaching end of life. Oracle moved to a minimum support model in January 2022 for our version of eBiz; the cost of this model increases each year, includes only maintenance/compliance patches, and will eventually be discontinued by the vendor. The decision to select Workday resulted from a rigorous and collaborative process involving input from numerous stakeholders across the University. We thank everyone who participated in the selection process, including the Executive Steering Committee (ESC), the System Evaluation Team (SET), and the many participants who joined the vendor demonstrations. We realize this was a significant time commitment but also necessary for robust decision-making.

RIT’s Workday conversion project, also known as Operation Tiger Cloud, will take place over the next two years, with a planned go-live in early 2026. It will rely upon many administrative and academic subject matter experts from across campus. While it will require all of our efforts to make this project a success, with that effort comes tremendous opportunity: Workday will enable the University to make a technological leap forward, bringing modern and efficient tools to help support all faculty and staff at RIT.

We encourage you to stay connected to the project and support the team working to bring this transformational change to RIT. The Tiger Cloud project website is one of multiple mechanisms that will be used for communication. Please refer to it to stay apprised of project timelines, milestones, and other fundamental information.

We are excited to imagine RIT as a Workday University.

Thank you for everything you do.
