What is the difference between Tiger Bucks and Dining Dollars?

Tiger Bucks:

  • A taxable credit account accessed through an RIT ID card. 
  • Use at multiple on-campus locations to purchase food and non-food items at dining, retail, and academic locations on-campus, including lab fees and HUB Xpress. 
  • Charges 8% New York state sale tax on all purchases.
  • Remains active until you graduate or leave the University.
  • Custom amounts may be added via Tiger Spend. Faculty and staff can enroll in payroll deduction.
  • Faculty and staff receive a 10% discount at RIT dining locations when they identify as faculty or staff. Excludes online ordering.
  • Visitors may add funds to a Reload Card at any Tiger Spend Reload Station. 

 

Dining Dollars:

  • A non-taxable form of payment accessed through an RIT ID card. 
  • Use to purchase perishable and non-perishable groceries and food items only at RIT Dining locations and vending machines, excluding Java's.
  • Save New York State 8% sales tax on food purchases. 
  • Unused Dining Dollar balances will roll over from the fall to spring semester. Beginning May 2024, any funds up to $1,000 will roll over semester to semester until graduation or you exit the university. Any funds over $1,000 will be forfeited. 
  • A set amount is given with each meal plan per semester or custom amounts may be added through Tiger Spend.
  • Only available to students.
