An underwater view of Imagine RIT

For this assignment, I wanted to make an image that was shot from a different view of one of the exhibits at Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival. I saw the concrete canoe last year and thought the exhibit would create the perfect opportunity to make an unusual image. I made this photograph with an underwater camera housing, using a weight belt to keep myself from floating to the surface. It was tricky because I was free diving, which means I was just holding my breath underwater and trying to compose before returning to the surface for another breath. Getting a successful image underwater is tough, but extremely rewarding.
