Steven Gold, professor of economics at RIT’s E. Philip Saunders College of Business, is the former chair of Accounting and Finance, and past department chair of Management Information Systems, Accounting and Finance.

Gold is active in the development of economic simulations and business simulations for use in the classroom and in industry. He is the author of four computerized simulation games and has published more than 25 referred journal articles and proceedings in the field of simulation and gaming.

The first commercially available microeconomic simulation game in the nation, MICROSIM, designed for mainframe computers, was authored by Gold and published by MacMillan Publishing Company in 1984. Other simulation games include: Decide-POM: Decision Exercises in Computer Instructor Designed Environments in Production and Operations Management (McGraw-Hill); Astute Business Policy (SHR Associates), and Beat The Market: An Interactive Microeconomic Game (Gold Simulations, a company he founded; see www.goldsimulations.com).

Gold, a fellow and past-president of the National Association of Business Simulations and Experiential Learning, has presented his research studies at the International Simulation and Gaming Association in Weimar, Germany; Scheffield Polytechnic Institute in England; and in Prague, Czech Republic. He received his B.A. in economics and B.S. in industrial engineering at Rutgers University in New Brunswick; and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from the State University of New York in Binghamton.

Daniel D. Tessoni is an expert on accounting, corporate governance and finance, and an outspoken critic of questionable business practices. At RIT's Saunders College of Business, he developed "Crisis in Accounting: Myth or Reality," an MBA-level course that explores the merits of accounting controversies at companies such as Enron and WorldCom.

An assistant professor of accounting at RIT, Tessoni’s primary interests include the role of accounting in the organization, corporate governance, executive compensation strategies, security price modeling, agency theory and conflict resolution, dividend policy, capital structure issues, the capital budgeting decision, product costing and outsourcing decisions, and the financial aspects of acquisition strategies.

Tessoni has presented seminars and executive programs on accounting and finance related issues to numerous companies including Veeco Instruments, Greatbatch Inc., Clarks Shoes North America, International Textile Group, Western New York Energy, Constellation Brands, ITT Industries, Eastman Kodak, Xerox, Bausch & Lomb, Chase Manhattan Bank, First Empire Bank and Apple Computer.

Tessoni received his Ph.D. in Accounting from Syracuse University, a master’s from Clarkson and a bachelor's degree from St. John Fisher College. He is a Certified Public Accountant in New York State and qualified as a financial expert per SEC and Sarbanes-Oxley criteria. He currently serves on boards/chairs committees for Safety Components International, Inc. and Genesee Regional Bank, and is a member of the board of trustees at Keuka College.
