RIT Launches First Peer-Reviewed Technical Journal

‘Journal of Applied Science & Engineering Technology’ now available

Rochester Institute of Technology has launched a new forum to showcase worldwide scholarship in applied science and engineering technology. The Journal of Applied Science & Engineering Technology, which is published by the RIT Press, is now available by visiting jaset.rit.edu.

It is both RIT’s first peer-reviewed technical journal and first open-access journal. Because the journal is open access, it is available at no cost on the Internet for educational and research purposes.

“We’re filling a niche,” says Chance Glenn, a telecommunications engineering technology associate professor who serves as the editor-in-chief. “There are only a couple, at most, other journals that focus on these areas. We’re giving people in these fields an opportunity to publish some of their great work.”

Some of the highlights of the inaugural issue include topics such as mine bearing plates, and the application of wireless technology to communication networks and a paper that has implications on homeland security and terrorism.

Bound copies of the Journal of Applied Science & Engineering Technology can be purchased by visiting www.lulu.com or calling RIT Press at (585) 475-6766.
