‘Inside Imagine RIT’ Wins Prestigious 2009 Silver Telly Award

Mini-documentary chronicles the success of university’s inaugural innovation festival

“Inside Imagine RIT,” a Rochester Institute of Technology video production, is the recipient of a 2009 Silver Telly Award in the category of documentary. “Silver Telly” represents the international award program’s highest honor.

“Inside Imagine RIT” is a mini-documentary highlighting the success of the inaugural Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival, which took place last May. The 9-minute presentation is written and produced by Paul Stella, director of RIT University News, and directed and edited by Steve Czompo, producer/director for RIT’s Educational Technology Center. Barry Culhane, RIT executive assistant to the president and Imagine RIT festival chair, is the executive producer. Bryan Maslin, founder of Maslin Digital, produced the high definition video for “Inside Imagine RIT.”

Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest film and video productions, and groundbreaking Web commercials, videos and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

The Telly Awards receives more than 13,000 entries annually. Last year’s winners included Disney Destinations, ESPN, Harpo Studios, NASA Television, NBA Entertainment, PBS, Sports Illustrated, The Christian Broadcasting Network, The Weather Channel, Time Life, Time Warner Cable, TV Guide Network, and Warner Bros.
