More than 70 students from Apollo Middle School in Greece will be guest-learners at Rochester Institute of Technology for Career Exploration Day starting at 9:30 a.m. May 7. Students will participate in presentations and demonstrations about the fields of optics, imaging science and the hospitality industry.
As part of the visit to RIT, students will take part in workshops designed to reinforce classroom work. Faculty in the schools present information about the variety of career opportunities in each area and then provide demonstrations and supervise hands-on activities.
While on campus, students will visit the School of Hospitality and Service Management, part of the RIT College of Applied Science and Technology. The lecture and demonstration takes place in Henry’s restaurant in the Eastman Building, room 4125. The second workshop takes place in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, room 1125, and it will be hosted by members of the imaging science department, part of the RIT College of Science.
Career Exploration Day was developed through a partnership between Greece Apollo Middle School, RIT and the Monroe County School Business Partnership. The Partnership is a service provided to the Greece School District through a cooperative agreement with Monroe #1 BOCES.
