Much of the RIT campus lost power this morning, shortly after 10 a.m., due to a Rochester Gas and Electric power outage.

The cause of the outage is unknown and is affecting parts of eastern Monroe County.

An RG&E recorded voice message says power is expected to be restored by noon.

RIT officials are asking the university community on campus to “power down” equipment or technology that would be damaged by a sudden return to power.

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
