RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability will receive $5 million as part of the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council’s funding award. The funds will be used for equipment and test beds for Sustainability Hall. The award to RIT was part of a package of $96.2 million dollars coming to the nine-county region through the Regional Economic Development Council competition, which was recognized with the top award among the three “Best Plans.” Prior to the commitment, RIT had been awarded a $13.1 million grant by the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Construction Grant Program in a highly competitive national program, and $10 million in previous funding from the state of New York that was used toward construction of the new facility.
