Osher at RIT hosts preview of fall classes

Thinkers of all backgrounds are welcome to join member-led organization

People never outgrow the sheer joy of learning something new.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Rochester Institute of Technology is holding preview sessions of fall classes from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at The Athenaeum Building, 50 Fairwood Drive, Henrietta. Osher offers classes for thinkers 50 and older who live in Greater Rochester and are interested in filling their days with meaningful discussion, different perspectives and social gatherings.

“Curiosity never retires and the vibrancy of the 50-plus learner will amaze you,” said Nita Genova, Osher Council chair. “Find out what fascinates you; we have classes that will appeal to people from all walks of life—and it’s a wonderful way to make new friends.”

Osher classes run the gamut from French Conversation, Mayan Engineering and German Expressionists, to Flickstory: Hollywood Goes to War and Going With the Dogs: Nature in the Selection and Developmental Training of Dogs.

Other perks in Osher membership include travel, tours, field trips, an RIT Student Identification Card to utilize campus events, audiology services and RIT Libraries.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT is a membership-led organization that stimulates minds and forges friendships among people ages 50 and older who live in Greater Rochester. The organization was founded in 1987 as The Athenaeum, an affiliate of Rochester Institute of Technology. In 2006, it became an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, joining a growing national network of more than 100 university-based centers.
