Under the Hood: So what’s so hard about that? Inside N&E, News & Events Daily, PR musings, Under the Hood

I’m in transition. Instead of going to Wegmans on Tuesday (previously my day off) when it’s just me, retirees and stay-at-home moms, I go on the weekend, when everybody goes. Same thing with doctor appointments, vet appointments, trips to the mall, etc.

Instead of getting up a 9 a.m., sometimes 11 a.m., in order to start my 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. shifts at the paper, I get up at 6 o’clock. In the morning. Before the sun is up. Before my husband is up. I used to stay up ’til 2 a.m. Now I can’t keep my eyes open after 10 p.m.

Speaking of the husband, I see him all the time now. Before, we would go days without seeing each other because of our opposite work schedules. Now I see him every day. We have dinner together every night. And — so far — we still like each other.

I’m now a regular person with regular work hours who sees her husband all the time, just like other regular married people. It’s taking some getting used to, but it’s worth it.
