The Gannett Project starts its lecture series this year—Visionaries in Motion—with a scientist who has awed the general public. Janna Levin will be on campus next week to give her talks “Minds, Machines and the Cosmos: Is the Universe Infinite?” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Webb Auditorium in the James E. Booth Building, and “Chaos and Black Hole Binaries” at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, in the Center for Computational Relativity and Gravitation, building 74, room 2060. Both talks are free.
Levin is a physicist and a theoretical cosmologist at Columbia University with a knack for communicating beyond her scientific circle. She’s like translator, explaining the big ideas of her field to those who don’t speak the language.
