I am very excited to be rejoining University News as one of their Senior News Specialists. I previously worked for UNS on a temporary basis during the summer of 2005 and have spent the last two years serving as the marketing and communications coordinator for the Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies.
In my new capacity I will be covering the Kate Gleason College of Engineering, Research at RIT as well as still doing media relations for CIMS. There are a lot of interesting projects going on in all of these areas and I am looking forward to working with their first class faculty, staff and students to promote these efforts.
For example, engineering professors Sean Rommel, Santosh Kurinec, and Karl Hirschman recently received a National Science Foundation grant to partner with AmberWave Systems on new research in the area of semiconductors. Their work could revolutionize a host of consumer electronic devices and a story on their research appeared in EE Times, one of the nation’s top electronics publications. I am confident we will be able to do more media on this as the project advances and was happy to “get my feet wet” on my new beat with such an interesting story.
I have a feeling there are plenty more to come!
