An RIT pep rally Events

There’s nothing quite like the atmosphere on a college campus leading up to a big-time, Division I sporting event.

Both RIT and the Rochester community will get a taste of it this weekend.

RIT’s men’s hockey team is preparing for arguably its biggest game since joining Division I a couple years ago. Cornell, traditionally a national hockey power, is coming to Rochester Saturday night to play the Tigers at downtown’s Blue Cross Arena.

And the RIT community is getting ready.

The Student Athlete Advisory Committee, in conjunction with RIT’s Student Government and Office of Alumni Relations is hosting a pep rally Friday night to get the community “pumped” for Saturday night’s game.

The pep rally, which begins at 6:30 p.m. in Clark Gym, will feature an address from RIT coach Wayne Wilson, a performance by the RIT Pep Band, a chance to meet the team, and a free barbeque.

I’m hoping for a huge turnout at both the pep rally and Saturday night’s game. This weekend is about more than a sporting event. It’s about school spirit, and our continuous efforts to enrich the sense of community at RIT.

A win would be nice, too.

Go Tigers!
