Get in The Loop Miscellaneous

You may have seen posters about it on campus. You might have stumbled upon its table tents at lunch time. You may have heard its slogan during hockey games. But chances are, you still aren’t quite sure what the heck “The Loop” is all about. Well, here’s your explanation.

The Loop is a multimedia partnership between the Democrat and Chronicle and eight Rochester area colleges: RIT, St. John Fisher, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Brockport, Monroe Community College, Kueka College and Roberts Wesleyan. It’s a Web site (www.rocloop.com) that is produced for college students, by college students.

The site officially launched in late August. Its mission is to provide a gathering point where the students at Rochester area colleges can learn a bit about the community they study in and communicate with each other through blogs and story chat.

The Loop is far from a finished product. It’s continuing to evolve and grow with each passing day. A major redesign is expected to welcome students back when they return from Christmas break. But in order to make this venture successful (i.e. what you want it to be), the folks running The Loop need to hear from students like you! Want to be a part of it? There are plenty of staff positions available, including editors, writers, bloggers, backpack journalists, photographers and marketing coordinators.
Check out the site, register and offer feedback. You can fill out a survey about the site here. Feel free to comment about it here, as well. We’d love to hear what you think.

Not sure if you saw this.

"Kickstart is focusing on getting alumni to sign up first, and will be offering a $25,000 prize to whichever college/university gets the most alumni to sign up before December 31."

Interesting stuff, Brian. I had not seen Kickstart yet. Have you had a chance to check out The Loop? Any thoughts?
