Many of you may have heard about this “innovation festival” that RIT is hosting this spring. Maybe you’ve seen it mentioned in News & Events. Maybe you’ve heard it discussed in one of your classes. Or maybe you know someone who has submitted a proposal.
But this much is certain: if we at University News do our jobs, you WILL hear all about the Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival in the upcoming weeks—beginning tomorrow.
President Bill Destler is holding a news conference at 2 pm March 11 in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center to officially unveil Imagine RIT to the Greater Rochester community. Destler and Barry Culhane, chair of the festival’s planning committee, will discuss what the festival is all about.
Destler will also announce Imagine RIT’s premier sponsor.
But I think the coolest part about tomorrow’s news conference is that we’re actually going to be providing those in attendance with a taste of what they’ll experience when the festival is held on May 3. Nine different exhibits will be on display, including:
*Multitouch, a touch screen that allows users to paint and draw.
*An Interactive Miniature Golf Hole that uses a laser to help line up your shot and where robots—not windmills—serve as an obstacle.
*A Green Lung that helps clean the air.
*RIT’s Formula racecar, which was designed and built by RIT students.
Come on out tomorrow at 2 pm and see, for yourself, what Imagine RIT is all about.
