Graphic designer John Maeda talks at RIT March 12 Events

Rhode Island School of Design President-elect John Maeda will visit RIT March 12 for an 8 p.m. talk in Webb Auditorium in the James E. Booth Building. Maeda is a world-renowned graphic designer, computer scientist and visual artist, who Esquire named as one of the 21 most important people for the 21st century.

Maeda, currently the E. Rudge and Nancy Allen Professor of Media Arts and Sciences, at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a faculty member at the Media Lab will present “Humanity, Simplicity, Technology” tomorrow night as part of the Caroline Werner Gannett Project “Visionaries in Motion.”

Maeda wrote The Laws of Simplicity, Creative Code, Maeda@Media, and Design by Numbers—books that describe his philosophy of “humanizing technology” through his perspective on the digital arts.
