I remembered it was quite overcast. I noticed plenty of exhibits—pretty much all over the place. Lots of people turned out, and everyone really seemed to have had a great time. But, beyond that, it was a blur.
That’s my initial interpretation from the debut of Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival, which hit campus last May. Please forgive me, I was in frantic “producer mode” that day. While leading a video crew, hoping to sample a wide variety of the festival’s attractions, it was tough to fully appreciate the event on a grand scale. Basically, I had six hours to perform video triage.
But, I have to tell you, the images did not disappoint. What I witnessed in video form reaffirmed the tremendous reviews that folks were providing about the festival. RIT is truly a hotbed for innovation and creativity, and it was fascinating to see how enthusiastically visitors responded to that.
Whether or not you were able to attend Imagine RIT, I invite you to look back with me at the highlights of this milestone event for our university. The video presentation comes in a full-length version—in the neighborhood of nine and a half minutes—and a 4-minute abridged version. Both are available for viewing through the Imagine RIT Web site. Or check out the University News You Tube channel.
My sincerest thanks and appreciation goes to Byran Maslin, a talented videographer who’s responsible for the amazing images. Bryan and I worked together long ago at 13WHAM-TV, and I couldn’t think of anyone better suited for a project of this magnitude. He’s the best! Plus, many thanks to Steve Czompo from RIT’s Educational Technology Center (ETC) for putting all the pieces together. More often than not, Steve is responsible for the skillful editing of an RIT video productions, and he outdid himself on this one.
So, imagine no longer, and enjoy.
