Our new redesign of the RIT Athletics website is here. Look for some awesome new features and looks as the year rolls on. Also, with the site being switched over, there are several updates that need to made from our end, so there may be missing links that we are working on fixing.
On Wednesday evening, $1,500 was raised for the Side-Out foundation, which supports breast cancer research. The Tigers wore special pink uniforms and about 500 pink-clad fans were in attendance. You can still donate by clicking here. The volleyball team lost a close match to SUNY Cortland, but it was still a great night all along. The Tigers in action this weekend at the Nazareth Tournanent.
The men’s hockey team hosts its annual Orange and White scrimmage to go along with Skate With the Tigers on Saturday evening. The is a $5 admission that covers the scrimmage, skate rental and an 8×10 photo for the players to sign. The money raised goes towards a great cause.
The men’s soccer team (3-6-0, 1-0-0 E8) goes on the road to play at Elmira on Saturday and Ithaca on Sunday. RIT had its two-match winning streak snapped by University of Rochester on Tuesday. Jake Yates was the RIT Male Athlete of the Week.
RIT’s women’s tennis squad (7-3, 7-1 E8) is the #2 seed in the 2008 Empire 8 Tournament. Amanda Berg was named the Empire 8 Player of the Week for the third time after a strong performance at the ITA Tournament last weekend.
Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams has strong showings at the Pre Atlantic Regional last weekend. Erin LaFave was named the RIT Female Athlete of the Week after a strong showing. This weekend, the Tigers travel down I-390 to compete at the Geneseo Invitational at Letchworth State Park.
