600 Students Take Part in BrickHack 2019

RIT students turned out by the hundreds for the 2019 ‘invention marathon’ known as BrickHack. Corporate partners like Datto, Wegmans and Google sponsored the event, which also offers students opportunities to connect with recruiters.

RIT’s Launch Initiative is a multidisciplinary student organization that applies the principles of rocket design and manufacturing for learning and competition. They recently “launched” a crowdfunding campaign in order to raise money to build a rocket for their next competition and they need your help!

Brian Stumm '92 (KGCOE),'93 MS (KGCOE) joined Jade Bird Universal Fire Alarm Co. Ltd. as vice president global strategy in March 2018, most recently he was appointed general manager for Jade Bird Fire Alarm International (Europe) S.L., a business unit of Jade Bird Universal Fire Alarm Co. Ltd.

Rachel (Coene) Spence '97 (CIAS) has joined FIFTEEN, a Buffalo, NY, full-service marketing agency, as creative director. Rachel previously served as creative supervisor at the former Roberts Communications in Rochester. She has experience in creating marketing solutions for clients such as Xerox, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Seneca Park Zoo Society and Ameriprise Financial.

Brian Peterson '77 (GAP),'78 (GAP) is pleased to say that he is still going strong in photography, doing aerial and function photography in Portland, ME. In between photography jobs in the winter, he also has a part-time job doing yacht restoration with a friend in Freeport, ME, which helps him with maintaining his 25-foot sailboat. He has NO plans to retire, having way too much fun!

His book joins others in the series such as Color Appearance Modeling by Professor Mark D. Fairchild and Fourier Methods in Imaging by Professor Roger L. Easton, Jr.

Jeremy Sniatecki '95 (CIAS) was chosen by Universal Studios/Factory Entertainment to create a "retro travel poster" design to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Jurassic Park, inviting visitors to the fictitious Isla Nublar where the original film takes place.

Martha DiMeo 84 (GAP, GAP) is a contributor to the Graphic Artists Guild Handbook: Pricing & Ethical Guidelines, 15th Edition. She shared her expertise in the Digital Imaging & Photo Retouching & Restoration category. The handbook, known as “PEG,” is an indispensable resource for practitioners working in all disciplines of the graphic arts.
