Bio

David Anderson is an adjunct professor at the Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. He recently retired from a position as the Business Process Operations Manager and senior staff member of the Xerox PARC lab located in Webster, NY. Prior to this assignment he managed an international product development team focused on Remote Services and enabling technologies. During his 38-year career he worked on both technology and product development for over 15 successful products and holds 35 US patents. Mr. Anderson attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, graduating in 1975 with a BS degree in Engineering Physics. In 2006, he received a MS degree in Product Development from RIT. He teaches graduate courses in Product Development, Commercialization, Innovation and Technology Management.

This course emphasizes the marketing and product strategy activities required to create, develop, and launch successful new products. Topics covered include identifying the market opportunity for new products, defining the product strategy, understanding customer requirements, developing and updating the product business plan, marketing's role in the product development process, developing the marketing plan for launching new products, and managing the product life cycle. Best practices in activities required for successful new product commercialization are reviewed.
