    Students compete in Microsoft Puzzle Challenge

    The annual Microsoft College Puzzle Challenge will pit RIT students against more than a thousand representatives from 27 other prestigious universities. Teams each have 10 hours to solve a packet of puzzles that might include anything from crosswords and logic problems to word play and cryptograms.

    Gaia, a company founded by RIT alumni, was featured in an Inc. article listing the top eight “Coolest College Startups” as named by the Student Startup Madness competition at South by Southwest. This company is almost entirely run by RIT students and alumni.

    Grade school students Get Connected to computing

    More than 50 Rochester-area grade school students are now dreaming of careers in computing after attending RIT’s Get Connected events this February and March. The free workshops gave 8th–10th grade students a taste of computing and highlighted different areas of the field.

    RIT takes second at cyber defense competition

    A team of RIT students took second place at the annual Northeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. The annual event is part of the nation’s largest college-level cyber defense competition, an extracurricular event that helps to train the next generation of cybersecurity experts.

    RIT contingent heads to Game Developers Conference

    With RIT boasting some of the top programs in the world in game design and development in 2018, more than 100 RIT students, faculty, alumni and staff will travel to San Francisco to participate in the Game Developers Conference 2018, the largest professional gaming industry event of the year.
