RIT Croatia and Clarkson University Collaborated as Part of Erasmus+ KA107 Exchange Program

Dr. Boris Jukić from Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY, USA, visited RIT Croatia, Dubrovnik, from July 11 to July 15 as a part of the ERASMUS+ KA107 program which provides funding for exchange of students and lecturers mobility with third countries.

Dr. Jukić, who is a professor of Operations & Information Systems and serves as the Director of Business Analytics, worked closely with Dr. Domagoj Tolić, faculty member at the Web and Mobile Computing program at RIT Croatia.

During last week, Dr. Tolić and Dr. Jukić shared their experience and ideas for a big-data approach towards analyzing models of sub-surface currents in bodies of water. The impact of understanding the movement of water is important at the level of climate, ecology, economy, tourism, transport, natural catastrophes, etc.

When asked about the benefits of such cooperation for RIT Croatia, Dr. Tolić explained “This program increases its capacity to operate at EU and international level, improves its management skills and internationalization strategies and it reinforces cooperation with partners from other countries. Furthermore, the program increases allocation of financial resources (other than EU funds) to organize EU/international projects and increases quality in the preparation, implementation, monitoring and follow up of EU/international projects”.

Following the in-person collaboration, Dr. Jukić will happily share his big data talk via Zoom once the fall semester begins.
