RIT Croatia's Community Service Day: Inspiring Action, Impacting Lives

Celebrating the essence of community and compassion, RIT Croatia recently revived its long-lasting tradition of organizing Community Service Day, an excellent example of community engagement. For over two decades, this event has stood as a great model of altruism, embodying the institution's commitment to giving back.

At its core, Community Service Day characterizes the spirit of kindness and growth. Each year, students gather around local causes, collaborating with faculty and staff to come up with meaningful initiatives. Whether it's revitalizing playgrounds, entertaining the elderly, or supporting healthcare facilities, the goal remains steadfast: to learn, to evolve, and to make a difference.

This year, the organizers of the Community Service Day were the dedicated members of the Student Government at both the Dubrovnik and Zagreb campuses. In Zagreb, on March 23, 2024, student, faculty, and staff volunteers joined hands with Zagreb Caritas, welcoming 34 eager children. With enthusiasm and warmth, they orchestrated many activities, from sports festivities at Bundek Park to vibrant painting sessions on the Zagreb campus.

In Dubrovnik, on April 20, 2024, another Community Service Day unfolded at the Children's Home Maslina where student, faculty, and staff volunteers immersed themselves in making a difference. One group diligently cleaned the surroundings, while another brought smiles to children’s faces through sports engagements in football and handball.

Upon reflecting on these acts of kindness, it is again proved how strong of an impact selflessness has. RIT Croatia's Community Service Day proudly nurtures a community bound by empathy and purpose for over two decades and will surely continue to do so in the future!
