Celebrating 50 years of preparing students for contemporary careers in today’s global companies

The College of Engineering Technology serves a broad variety of young people, many first-generation college students, transfer students from community colleges, and non-traditional students seeking to further enrich their skills for today’s evolving industries. They look to the college to provide foundational skills in engineering, advanced manufacturing, packaging, print media, and environmental safety and to match those skills with experiences that will give them an edge upon entering the workforce.

Starting as the College of Computer Science and Technology in 1972, the College of Engineering Technology was one of the anchors of RIT. It would be renamed the School of Engineering Technology in the 1980s and later the College of Applied Science and Technology. The college continues to serve local, regional, and national corporate partners, providing training and applied research to improve everything from supply chain challenges and sustainable design practices to workforce development and advancing the use of new materials for products.
