People with assistive devices such as wheelchairs have difficulty when navigating on snowy/icy surfaces. They also face the challenge of not being able to participate in outdoor winter activities such as ice skating or sledding. That's where our project comes in: developing an attachable assistive device that allows people with disabilities to overcome these challenges. There are several of these products currently on the market, such as Polar Skis, Slick Skis, and Wheel Blades, but they all have features that can be improved. We targeted issues concerning ease of attachment and detachment and increasing ease of use of wheelchair on snow. The exhibitor will be able to see a live function prototype.
